my encounter Friday night...

I had an encounter of sorts with a nasty vermin on Friday night.

Here is how it went down:

I was at our church for our annual Christmas party on Friday. My buddy and I had walked outside for a minute to get something out of my truck. I was headed over about to open my truck door when he yelled "POSSUM!!" :D

As I said "where?" I then caught a glimpse of the gnarly critter scooting across the asphalt towards the dumpster.

Next thing I done (I still don’t know why), was take off in a full run towards the beast. :D

While running I said to myself: "self, now what are you gonna do when you get there?" :-/

All the while my buddy was yelling the same thing and laughing as I bolted back and forth trying to "hem him up in a corner". :o

I had in mind that one of two things would occur.

1) Possums are like armadillos in that you can get em by the tails and you are good to go. In other words they can’t get you. :o

Or

2) They are NOT like armadillos and he was gonna eat my arse up. ;D

I much preferred it was number 1 but by this time a crowd of onlookers had dropped their game of dirty Santa and came outside to see what all the fuss was about. I couldn’t disappoint a bunch of Pentecostals (plus my own father was watching and cheerin me on :wink: ) so, with that in mind I was pretty well set on putting my hands on this thing. :o

The chase went on for hours and that soon turned to days. (It was actually like 1.5 minutes) Finally the battle between man and beast came to a halt as I did the ol jook and smook tail grab. 8)

With the evil one in hand (oh he was NOT happy :o) I yelled to an applauding crowd and held my trophy high in the air. I then ran into the church with my newfound Christian convert and showed him off to everyone else that was inside. I explained to them that his name was Fred and he was an evangelist that was glad to be here.

I got done and took the fellow back outside and tucked a Gideon's Bible into his lil pouch as he scampered off back in the woods. I can tell you for sure he was tired and beaten but he left a new creature in Christ. 8)
