Default mounting a dive ladder

I'm planning to mount a Garelick dive ladder on the transom of my '73 V-20 and am wondering if anybody out there has done this and might have any tips.

I could have sworn I read something here on this topic but can't finding anything now while searching.

Because the transom slants outward, the standard mounting bracket won't work without some serious shimming-- about 1.25 inches as far as I can tell.

If anybody out there has added one of these ladders and has any tips on the best way to do it, please pass them on--- or if this has been covered please point me to the right posts.

thanks

Just take some Starboard and cut out two mounting blocks the size and angle you need. ( might be able to get some scrap stock of 1" from a boat yard?)Then pre drill the holes you need and then mount all at the same time with some 5200 sealeant. make sure that you use something strong for a backing plate on the inside of the transom!!!
Some nice 1/4 inch alumin would be good if you can get some??
Let us no how you make out.

Good Luck!

I did the search and I also found nothing on mounting a ladder. But did find other things.

You did the right thing!! Your search proved fruitless so ask!! At least you tryed!

Don't mind Seakindly, he is the grumpy one on the board!! *;D

Hey Mac -- why don't you do a seach for "grumpy" and see how many times my name comes up? ;)

MSC -- I searched for "ladder" and "dive" and got nuthin about mounting a dive ladder. You might want to look at the posts about mounting kicker brackets for some guidance. Before, I wasn't sure if you were searching correctly. Was only trying to help -- you would know when I'm grumpy. ;D

By doing the grumpy search, it does point to you as the grumpy one. I never thought of you like that, only as a highly informed and opinionated soul. Bill Mc ;D

Thanks for the responses. Now there's something for the next person who searches for "ladder"...

As it turns out, Garelick makes a nice SS bracket for transoms like mine. It cost $30 and make for a very solid mount, so I think it will be well worth the cost.
