Same hull design, however the cabin layout is different. If you want, take a look at the 248 or 250 sportsman and coastal. Excellent value, alot with twins and an excellent ride too.
Good luck

I owned a 23 cc(twin 225's). It is a smooth ride, but the hull is heavy. It will get very sluggish in rough water(18degree deadrise at the stern). The sportsman and coastal series were a Larry Smith design. Designed more for south Florida and California waters. No real discernable bow flare, and a flat 39 degree deadrise at the bow. Makes for rough entries. All in all a good hull, but sluggish in the rough stuff and a whole lot more wet than a v-20.

Honestly, the v-20 is a better hull. The 23 and 25 are of course bigger, but do not give the hull performance that a v-20 does. They also burn a crapload more fuel.

I would stick with any v-20 manufactured after 1985. Earlier models are good too. Just the post 1985 models were built using heavier cloth and a hot molded transom.

Just my$.02

you know pipe, I could be wrong. Does the 83 have the washwell built into the transom? If so I could be off on the years of the hot molded transom. But, 85 is when they started using heavier cloth during construction(all models). Just means the gunwales and deck cap are a little stiffer.
