Default Rod Storage

Aside from the recessed boxes under the gunnels, (which I will only use for a brush or gaff/boat hook) what other ways/holders have you devised to store rods ?

I am thinking of installing three zero angle (straight up and down) flush mount holders in each gunnel on each side, just behind where the bimini ends. The holders would be 2 inches apart. I could use these to hold rods on the way out, and to clear rods etc while fishing.

i've got one (30 degree?) mounted in each gunwale just behind the outriggers, 2 (30 degree) in the transom and two adjustable ones on the downriggers (never used to store rods, just in use when the downriggers are used). Also on the engine box is a 4 rack of holders that are used while running to the fishin hole.

I have made a set out side the windsheild. These are the old ones. There are brand new ones now, and work great!! It holds 5 rods. I will try to find a newer pic.

I also have 4 on the engin cover.
But for now here is this one

Last spring, I picked up one of these 6 pack rodholders from cabelas. They are polished, anodized aluminum. Thought they were a good deal for 80 bucks. I mounted them over the plastic rack that I have on my door to the transom well, so I could still use the old rack for knives, pliars, net, and gaff. I like this because it gets the rods off the gunnels when I am underway. That cuts down immensely on the amount of salt spray forced into your reels, which is a good thing if you don't like to constantly take apart your reels for cleaning. Also good to get them off the gunnels, when launching, so that they are out of the way of dock lines, pilings, and lowlifes that will grab a rod from a holder in the blink of an eye ( New York ya know :().

Am also thinkin about mounting a 3 rack on the INSIDE cockpit wall in front of the port seat. I figure, if I angle it right, the rods will stick out between the windshield and the front of the bimini top. There they will not get in the way when I am casting from the cockpit.
