For those who have this I/O in your boats do you leave them running while fishing? I do I lot of drifting with my boat and the turning on and off of the engine makes me think it is taken a lot of abuse. Or should I leave it running? I run to block island 45min run, fish 3-4 hours and run back to LI. What feed back on this.

GE...big pond wisdom I've always heard: "don't shut her down cause she might not restart..." I'm sure there's lots of differing views on this, though... ;)...
Wouldn't consider what you're doin' "abusive"...

Do they have Sea Tow around you? It might be cheaper than the extra gas in a years time? I like to drift but I change plugs alot because I hate hard starts. I charge batteries all the time too. Hope this helps. You could have a mechanic do a tune up and sink and link.

I have the 165 in line 6 and keep it running in the big waters. If I'm trolling with the kicker I'll shut the big one off. I don't worry about abusing it, the motor is great and reliable, besides it just got done resting all winter!

I had the I/O and you can run her all day long!! It is a car engin and can take it!!
Plugs will never foul unless you have a different problem, I use to let mine run 8 hours!! You will burn off the plugs when you head in. But with gas heading for $2.50 + you may want to shut her down!
