Edge of that piston was rough...did carbon deposits knock that off or did it just fail over time?...we gonna see pics goin' back in?... :D...

That shouldn't hurt the motor if it's running slightly rich. We use to run the hottest plugs avail in our race engines and in my street cars. Also my jet ski's i run the hottest plug avail too.

then i just dont know, i looked at it close today it looks like it just flaked apart down to the top ring and the piston moves back and forth in the bore about an 1/8 inch using my finger

sounds like it may have been put up warm at some point in the fall or winter and that it made condensation when the cold night came. Then the moisture froze over the winter around the upper ring. That I have seen and it will cause the top of a piston to crack then when the motor is run and gets warm it starts to flake apart.

Just my .02 worth of thoughts. Who Knows

once the piston cracked up it would have been on top and would have hit the head and the valves.
