Default Bonito out of Boynton

Went out Saturday, my boat and my neice and nephew-in-law's 22 ft Angler, which they claim they are addicted to... told them it is a lifetime long addiction. The first pic is on the High Dive, the second fish was caught by my neice (holding the baby). Also caught ( and released )a slew of dolphin shorts and kept the one legal one I caught. The one of the kids I was playing around with the Kodak software and cartooned it.

ebol, I think that's a false albacore, not a bonito. *Big difference in table fare. *Bonito are good, false albacore are very bad (so I hear). *Both are big time fighters though! *

False Albacore (AKA Fat Albert, little tunny, etc.)

Bonito (AKA Supper :D)

Keeper dolphin? *Didn't know there was a size limit? *What is the limit?

Nice report and pix! *Keep em comin! Tight lines,
Blue

I believe you are right, thanks for the education. I never really took the time to distinguish the difference, but Little Tunny sounds right. They are fun to catch anyway. Yes, Florida now has a minimum dolphin size limit of 20" from head to fork and a bag limit of 10...

Thanks for the compliment, The woodwork really finishes her off. lots of coats of polyeurethane..

I was only recently told of the difference b/t the two, so don't feel bad. They look an aweful lot alike!

If it has teeth its a bonita or bonito so throw it in the fish box , if it don't then throw it back..they are fun to catch and they will run circles around your trolling rigs so fast you wont believe the mess but as far as table fare I would doubt if a cat would eat them..there are a bunch of fly fishers who come down here to beaufort in the fall and winter and fish just for them leaving 50lb stripers breaking right off the beach but they say albies fight harder than anything and they are in the tuna family so they probably do.
