Your boat looks great from the picture. You sure you want to paint it ?
I will be painting my deck. Its needed real bad.
I might spray the sides when the fiberglass guy is done. But it all comes down to $$$$.
Hows your motor run. Mine is running, but will feel better once its in the water and running under a load.
Mike.

Mulv,

I only painted my topside and decks (everything above the rub rail). I think I used about three quarts. I'm tellin you guys who are interested in a great finish, long lasting paint that's very affordable, check this out.

This is the primer I used, with an company discount it was like $25.00 Gal

This is the topcoat I used, 2 part polyeurethane enamel, discounted to something like $50.00 Gal.

Don't quote me on these prices, I don't remember for sure. I use this topcoat at work on machinery that goes to sea, it really holds up great.

Shicks read all the pedigree info, where does it say suitable or compatible with fiberglass.

I'm gonna try and buff it out first. If that doesnt work I like to know my options. * Thanks for everybodys replies.

Shicks,
That topside paint looks like an exact match to the bottom of your boat.

Mike,
Like you I have had the motor running on muffs but not in the water yet. *I may and try to get it out this weekend for a quick run, weather permitting but I doubt it.

Been looking at some two part polyurethane paints.
Can I use this paint instead of teh antifouling paint ??
My boat will be kept on the trailer. The whole reason in the first place to paint the bottom was because the fiberglass guy says its to hard to match the paint color after he repairs the hull. So after dewaxing, sanding, repairing and cleaning the hull, can I just roll on some poly ?????
Ok, I just signed up with photo bucket and added in a bunch of pictures. So hopefully soon I can figure out how to attach them to my posting.
Mike.

Hammer...................I would rather cut of my left testicle than put anti fouling paint on the bottom of a trailer boat. I checked out your pics in the repair forum. I would ABSOLUTLY NOT PAINT THE BOTTOM OF THAT SWEET RIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

Is my opinion clear ;D ;D ;D

Really I would love for my boat to have a clean bottom like that, but it had bottom paint on it when I bought it. I sanded the bottom paint off the transom when I painted the rest. The boat was full of holes, cracks and crappy repair work. If ya'lls isn't like that I would definatly wet sand and buff.

This was fine fine example of the quality work done to the boat in the past.

Mulv,

*Thanks, I brought some color samples home from the ICI paint store and tried to match it up. It's a little off but not bad. I'm not sure if I'm going to paint the hull or not, if I do...it will have color (ice blue or fighting lady yellow).

Willy,
*
* I consulted the people at ICI about the primer and that is what he recomended, nice stuff. Believe me, after all that work, I wouldn't have used something I wasn't confident in.

Painting the bottom of the hull with the anifouling paint was the fiberglass guys idea. I been since told to paint the bottom with clear or white poly paint. Is this any better ?
Mike.

If you do not need anti fouling ablative paint because your boat stays on a trailer all you are doing is putting a sealer coat on the gel coat and glass to prevent water intrusion and blisters.
