Default 1973 CC V20 vs 1995 V20 steplift

Hey guys!

I am about to repower my 1973 cc V20. I have a sweat deal going for a leftover 2005 Johnson 140 4 stroke--Fully installed for 9000.00 includes prop, wiring harness, tach, controls, will utilize my steering and hook up to my gas tank. but first I have to close my transom and install a bracket, and I have other minor crap to do.

Then I saw a 1995 step V20 with a Yamaha 200TXRT - real clean-canvas cover canvas bimini top double axel trailer (ok condition) GARMIN120 GPS,ScITEX CVS106 FISH FINDER,VHF RADIO,RITCHIE COMPASS,SS PROP. It,s already got a closed stern from the factory...
Around 10,500.00

What to do? I do love my center console but there is always work to do....

I have a 1994 CC and love it . But if I were I could find a pre-1977 CC in exelent shape I would trade in a second. I like tha classic lines and the layout of the older models . I know M.J. will scream , but I like the old Center consoles with the stern drive .

This is my dilema.
to cuddy or not to cuddy- she would be sweet with a 05 johnny *140 *4 stroker and a closed transom and bracket, shoot she tore up a head sea with that 20" Merc.

side note: that is her being towed away after a slip misshap

To me that is a classic . I have owned a step & a fish , in the summer I'm glad I own the CC . In the winter I find myself wishing that I had a steplift . You don't see many of the pre-77 fishermen . If it were me I would hold on to what I had and hang that new jonnyrude on her.

I say get the Cuddy and sell me your boat cheap!

No, really. You're a fly fisherman, don't you NEED the center console?

Is that deal on the motor at Ed's? They had that motor in 25" for $5,999! I'm sure no controls, prop or rigging for that price, looks like they are gone now, they show a 20" for a grand more???

I here ya Tin- I get confused when I have to many options.
I do have a bit of work to do on her...but the Marina in Delaware (tax free) is letting me pay half now- half when I'M ready to install the Jonhson on the back.

I missed that motor on e-bay by a week, they have one 20" left..and it's not tax free! and no controls and install. I figure I got the motor for 7300.00 and the rest of the stuff for $1700.00 shoot i needed a rewire after the slip misshap anyway- theres a grand right there. and controls and gauges, and a prop.......

Who would be doing the transom enclosure and how much? That's got to be a pretty penny.

I am...we'll see if the boat building couse i'm taking helps.
It's the f'n bracket that costs a grand!! I missed a nice one on e-bay in January -Stainless Marine or a b-bracket platform for a single outboard- $950 took it!

I have a boat builder friend in NC who's gonna walk me through it

Great deal. If you decide to do it (you should IMO) please take pictures of the whole process and post them here. Myself and I'm sure everyone else would love to see it!

OntheFly:

If your still shopping for a bracket check out

http://dadmarine.com/index00.htm

I purchased the one I have hanging from my 74 CC from him and have been very happy with it. Also saved quite a few bucks over what I could find on Ebay at the time, which makes it all the sweeter!
