Default Yo Blue_Runner....

About that V-21...Do you get any water backing into the scuppers on your boat?

No, hardly at all. Mainly just when its tilted from everybody standing on one side in the rear.

So far so good on that - haven't had a problem. I think its high time that I inspect all of my thru hulls and the scuppers though. I'm getting some water in the hull - not much at all - but it bugs me and I want to find the source.

BR, check all around under your rub rail, there may a gap that water is getting in. I've seen it on another v20, would take on water and couldn't find out where it was coming from. On this boat it was starboard side around the helm.

What about with full fuel and a couple big guys jigging over the stern? I think that the decks are a little higher on the 21. Mrs. Airslot has hinted that maybe I should get a newer boat...who's to argue with a woman like that.

Oh yeah, meant to tell you this too - there are scuppers on the splashwell on each side of the motor. They are the flaps and they let alotta water in the splashwell when sitting still. That bugs me too, so I'm thinking of replacing those with something that doesn't let water in.

Here's a shot and you can see the scuppers in the splashwell. The scuppers for the deck come out on the sides of the boat.

This pic was taken when the old 150 was on the boat:

Water in the splashwell is no big deal. I don't like wet feet....

IN my eyes, I don't want a bigger boat. The V-20 is affordable to operate in a relative sort of way. It's small enough to get into skinny water and big enough to fish offshore on nice days. It has a big cockpit. It'd be nice if the cabin were a hair bigger but...If I could go fishing I'd probably quit worrying about it.

I've been in some crap weather with a full load and 3 decent sized dudes bumbling around back there and never remember saying, "dang my feet just got wet".

I'm right there with you Slot - I like the size and economy too. Fairly easy to trailer and launch and like you said it can fish big or small. Also, you are right the deck is a couple of inches higher, which does eat into the freeboard somewhat. One of the tradeoffs I guess.

You going down for work? Or just to lay around and be lazy for a couple weeks? Either way sounds like fun.
