Bad Luck?

The name on my boat when I purchased her last year was, "Rita M", named after the previouse owners deciesed wife. I was going to re-name the boat but was warned by a few old salts that that would be taboo!!!
What do you guys think?
I was going to name the gaylick (gay lick, thats funny ;D ) version of "The Fisherman" but now I am not to sure.
What if I guess that her middle name was Marie, and name her the Rita Marie ?? Kinda salty sounding..

I have always heard that you shouldnt change the name of a boat cause its bad luck.

I guess the question is, do you believe in bad luck?

If you dont, then you wont have any problems if you change the name, if you do, then you are stuck with the name you got.
