Default When N America was naturally “ perfect”

For those nature lovers and such……

Between ice ages, and before native Americans where here, 100,000 years ago our modern nature was in “ perfect unspoiled natural balance”

Not talking dinosaur age when nature was quite different.
Talking our more modern nature ….

Imagine the extraordinary populations of sea life, birds, mammals, of all varieties before the impact of humans.
Manhattan Island totally wild with nature .

If there was a time and place to go back and look around this is what I’d like to see.
They say carrier pigeon population alone was so vast , the sky looked full when flocks flew by.

For a small look into the pretty much unspoiled woods there’s a chapter in a book by George W Sears, pen name Nessmuk that describes his walk on foot through some forest that hadn’t been assaulted yet by “sportsmen” of the day. He lived in the 1800’s. I haven’t read it for quite a while, but it’s a fun read and makes me wish I could go back to see the world then and before that.

I found an online version free in the Gutenberg project. The Book is: Woodcraft & Camping, but it comes up if you search Nessmuk in Gutenberg. I think it’s time to read it again.

Interesting Scook.
Millions of “ Native Americans “ inhabited N America and had set up before Europeans arrived.

So the time period of current absolute balance of nature before humans likely 50,000-100,000 years ago, between ice ages.

From grizzly bears to fish and birds, natural “ perfection.”
Wow

I think you’d enjoy chapter VII in the woodcraft book. It’s not the natural perfect balance, but it sure made me wish I could have been there to see that. Not that long ago there were pretty unspoiled places. My dad was borne in Tatitlek Alaska in 1911 and lived there until he was 7. He told of Copper River Salmon runs so thick you couldn’t get your oars in the water and his older brother waiting for geese to cross their necks so he could kill two with one shot.
