Default Bow rail bases

need attention. I found out when I went to grab the rail near its end and it popped up. There was nothing holding the screws in. I think all the bases need to be checked so see how firm they are, and while I'm at it I should replace two of the tees which are corroded. Question is what is the best way to fill the holes in the deck to make them watertight AND give the screws something to bite into. Thanks.

on mine. I filled holes with white marine Tex, left it a little proud, then sanded flush. Bedded rail feet with Boat Life caulk and thru bolted to underside of cabin with fender washers and nylock nuts. Kids were always jumping off bow and the using rails to climb back up, so I wanted them to hold

Screws on the base of the bow rail fittings? That’s a no no. If they are screwed in to the deck I would fill the holes with marinetex and drill new holes and use nuts and bolts with washers on the bottom. Mine have nuts and bolts. Got the fittings from Amazon. And stainless steel

Had decent weather this past weekend and got it all finished. Heat index was only in the 90s instead of the 100s. Used the West Marine version of MarineTex which is MarineRX. Worked like a champ. Bow rail is secure.

Only in the 90s. That’s better than 100 plus. Happy to hear it’s fixed. Now I’m go8ng to get west marines version of marine Tex.
