Default Lake Erie Walleye 2015

Got out for the first time this year on Friday, unfortunately not in the V as she is still waiting her turn at the motor doctor. We fished in a friends Starcraft, launched out of Catawba state park around 8am. We headed towards the cans at a blistering 10mph, the fog was so thick you couldnt see 100 yds, at one point we could hear people on another boat very clearly talking to each other but could not see them... scary stuff

anyway on to the fishing, It was fantastic. We had our 4 man limit of eyes in less than two hours. We continued to catch and release fish for a few more hours before heading in. We handled somewhere around 40 walleye (i lost count after 30)

lures didnt seem to matter, anything we put ot there caught fish. We caught on dhj12s anywhere from 40-100 back. Reef Runner 800s from 40-80 back. Reef runner skinny sticks from 60-80 back and also Smithwick Perfect 10s 20/20 and 30/30 with 1 ounce snap weights.

great day on the lake, i hope the rest of the year is like this.

I'd be happy with one walleye that size. Beautiful.

we didnt catch any monster fish, a lot of 28-30in 8 pounders though.

All the fish we caught were spawned out, i didnt get the chance to fish this year while they still had eggs. A few weeks ago these fish looked like footballs. Im surprised the state record wasnt broken this spring or through the ice in the winter.

Put the v in on Friday and had three short trips in front of Beaver park in Lorain.

fished for about an hour Friday and caught 2

fished for about two hours Saturday and caught 3

fished for about two hours Sunday and caught 4

All fish were on cranks, yesterday a mardi gras reef runner caught all 4. 70 and 80 feet back.

The big numbers of fish havent made there way this far East yet but they should be here soon, then the real fun will begin

Fishing has still been slow for us, weve been catching probably 5 fish on average when weve been out. We havent really tried too hard though, weve been being lazy and fishing old good spots and havent ran around looking for active fish like we should be. Thats gonna change next time i get out on the water.

took some friends out that have never trolled for walleye before, they both caught their first fish Ohio walleye ( 28in or larger qualifies) and they both had a great time and seem to be hooked.

heres a few pics

In NJ, an 8 pound walleye is a monster!
