Default New lower on Merc 250XS

Where in the heck did I put that thrust washer? I only took it apart a month or so ago. Now I can't find half the stuff to put it back together. OK, I found all but the thrust washer for the prop. I'm betting the prop testing on NV is where all my bits and pieces went. I'll check there next. The mind is a terrible thing to waste..

So the lower on the 250 XS was full of shavings. The pinion gear was wiped out, missing 3 teeth. How it was doing anything is a miracle. It never left me;-) I think my days offering free tow service are over. That must be hard on them lowers. Probably wouldn't hurt to lower the motor a notch or two. Put on the redneck throttle stop and get back to cruising. Chasing a number is fun but exhausting and PRICEY..

Purchased a new lower and got it installed last evening. Hooked to the hose and BINGO, motor started on the first crank.. I Love fuel injection when it works... This mota ain't been started since Labor Day. Lucky I am...

Located all the snorkelling gear in a puddle of rainwater that was in the front hatch. Mildew, what a mess, I started to throw it all out and start from scratch but half the stuff was new two years ago. A little clorox and some mild detergent and elbow grease. It all looks like new.. I let things go.

Lake test revealed that this boat is 100% ready to GO!
The old lower was a 1.75:1 ratio because the rpm, speed etc. are exactly the same as before and this lower is definitely the 1.75:1

SO

The single biggest problem I want to have is what to do next: scalloping? fishing? cruising? swimming? snorkelling? lunch? nap? adult beverage?
decisions decisions..
