Only system I liked better was SUZUKI's. Same pump, but had the reservoir built in under the cowling so no remote tanks, electric pumps, float switches, or etc to give trouble. At least the jap motors used bronze drive gears instead of nylon, or a complicated dual diaphram pump to try and vary the oiling. As for how to test it, you will need a manual or the specs. You get a graduated cylinder and measure how much oil it pumps during a timed cycle at a certain RPM with the pump closed, and then again with the oil pump set to wide open. They rarely give trouble though, and you hardly ever hear of a YAMAHA with an oil inejction problem so long as oil is kept in it. And when you do hear of a problem it is normally just teh float swtch for the transfer pump that has failed.

Thumbs up

Always thought the tank on the engine itself under the cowling was a much better idea. K.I.S.S.
