The extended snapper season has been a bust for me. Just watching a tropical storm with the same name as my wife of 25 years. No jokes, I've already bit my tongue twice!
Anybody been out? Hoping the weather will settle for the last few days of the season. Doug

supposed to go tomorrow morn. will let you know. i did get to go last tues(10-1) and we went 25 miles in rough seas to catch 2 fish. current was running so hard, 14 oz leads would not hold the bottom. we came back about 10 am. i went and rode a bush hog until 4 when my buddy calls and says its laying down let's go. so at 5:30,we head out the pass. it was great, went 10 miles and got our limit of giant red snapper. there were 5 of us onboard and we had 150 lbs of fish.

well, we went, put 60 miles on the boat and ended up catching our 6 fish limit 7 miles out. had bouncy conditions so had to hunt them. did see something i've never seen before, a school of tarpon rolling down the beach in about 10-20 ft of water. must have been 30 -40 of them. all we had was live pinfish so we threw that at hem, but they were not eating just going south for the winter
![]() these are a couple of the ones we brought home, not monsters, but good eating size |

Well, Tropical storm Karen, ate up the first part of the season, & family stuff & procrastination ate up some more. Finally got out on the LAST day of the season with a bud from New Orleans. I'd put some new numbers in the GPS last night, bought bait & ice while he was headed over & we left from Pascagoula about 9. Headed out to FH-2 (Florida limestone Pyramids) found structure right away, dropped a line & BANG, 1 snapper, too small by an inch, oh-oh. Ended up getting plenty over 16", but nothing big. Had our limit in short order. Nothing else though, bit off by something toothy & had a few pull off, chum line ran out we tried a shipwreck, & then an oil rig, then just we ran home.
