Default 1984 V20 CC Questions...

Hey Boys,

I'm toying with the idea of buying this 84 CC. If I buy it, I will be putting my 86 dual console up for sale. So, this is a bit of a heads up just in case anybody might be interested in my dually (full transom ready for bracket ;D). However, before I make this decision, I have a number of questions that I hope you guys will help me out with. First of all, here are the pics of the boat.

Okay, first of all, does the trailer look a bit odd to you in the front?

Second, do any of you know whether or not the transom can take an engine with a 25" shaft? Would I have to get one of those jack plates? Can that transom handle the weight and power of a 93 200HP Suzuki? (The engine currently on the boat is blown)

The reason I'm even thinking about doing this is because I wanted a CC all along and because I would be able to put one of my Suzuki's to use on it and maybe keep the other member of the pair for backup.

Do any of you know of any reputable, yet reasonable boat transporters? What's the average price per mile? I don't think I'm willing to do another FL trip so soon after having done so for the dually.

I'm sure I'll have more questions along the way. Let me thank you ahead of time for any help you might be able to offer.

ByGrace the only time I've seen a trailer like that it had been in a crash and the frame was torqued up(twisted). Looks to me like a head on type jugjing by the bend. As far as the engine I don't know enoughabout those years to say but in regards to the tow Franco has a company he used and was very pleased with, gave him a decent rate too.

Hello Bygrace...

If you want to go look at a center console 20, go easton Rt 214 toward Mayo, turn left on Selby Blvd. and go back to Selby Yacht Basin. My V20 CC is sitting on the hard on a trailer. You can at least compare the interior to a dual console.

Hello Bygrace (again)..

I have a 25 inch transom - take a look.

Also the dual consoles on your dually, are bolted in.
If you really want a center console, just unbolt the existing dual consoles, and replace it with a center console....
sounds crazy but it may be cheaper/easier than going to Florida ...

That trailer was made that way. I forget them name of them, but that's how it was made.

CB's right about the trailer...mine's ''dropped'' in front like that, too, only that one looks more extreme...in the 1st pic (hooked up) it looks like it will ride OK, but you'll just have to see once hooked up to your tow...I can sure understand your reluctance to another FL trip..

That LOOKS like a 25'' shaft in the pics...on an '84 it most likley is... ;)...

C Bill, the only concern I'd have about DC to CC conversion would be gettin' cables/wiring thru the floor and under the deck back to the transom...that'd be the ''tricky part'' ;) :P...

reelapeel....

Your right - my CC has a chase that allows cabes, wires etc. to travel aft across the stringer. There is only the live well tank aft of the console - maye one could snake the lines around it.

My thought was to adapt Bygrace's dually and save him the 1000 mile trip to Fla.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. It's been very helpful. More and more I'm thinking about doing it. I'm waiting to see if the guy would be willing to drive some of the distance. He lives in Ocala, FL.

I was able to talk with a guy who went down to look at it for himself and he thought the boat had a lot of potential.

Apparently, the reason the guy is selling it is because that motor is the second motor he's bought in a short amount of time that has blown on him. He doesn't want to make another investment in a used engine...

C Bill, I may take you up on taking a peek at your ride. Thanks for the offer.

Dunno...personal preference, I guess...that's a pretty sweet lookin' CC...if the price is right, another FL trip, to me, would be better than whackin' up a good floor inna DC to try makin' a CC of it...anyway, good luck w/it either way you decide... ;) ;D...

RAP and others,

The guy is asking $2500. Doesn't that sound like a great deal?
