Default clam rake

so i was at dick's today with my little guy and he wants a clam rake. he would never eat a clam in a million years but he just wants to master every type of fishing. so we go check out the clam rakes and DAM!!!!
they want $45. bucks for a regular clam rake. wooden handle, rake and small basket... $45. BUCKS?!?!? are they crazy?? it aint a weedwhacker or a chainsaw... it's a dam clam rake. a wood stick with a little basket on the end. i couldnt believe it.

reel clammers don't need no stinking rakes.

Get in the mud and dig for em.

That's how you really "master clamming".

If you know somebody who can weld you could make some pretty easily. My dad made a few for my pappaw over 30 years ago. Pappaw earned over 20 thousand dollars in 3 years diggin clams and selling fish during the summers out of Atlantic Beach, NC. That was back in the mid 80's when 20 grand could practiacally buy a sound-front beach house....which is how he paid for his. Unfortunately he sold it around '91 for 60 rgrand.

I use to use them pitch forks with the wide teeth, just bent the shaft on it so it was just like the clam rake, get cheap at a discount store.

like this one at Home Depot this one $25 but I have got for like $15 at discount stores. just shorten the handle and bend, you good to go
