Default im gonna build plywood boat.

Well after I'm done with the V I was gonna build another motorcycle but I have decided that I need a boat for my 25 HP rude. I have decided that I'm gonna do a glue and stitch plywood dory. Has anybody else on here done such a project? Shes gonna be simple,that's why I'm going with a flat bottom design.

A guy on our local fishing site up here built a nice little Bateau 11' Garvey. They have some plans for bigger ones as well.
Here's a link to his build;

That looks like a Walter Payson design. Also check out George Williams Skiffs.
There is a local boat builder up here called Ladybug Boats. Again a very similar design and they sell plans for the boats too.

Last place I lived (Wayne, NJ) my next door neighbor had an 18 foot ladybug boat w/9.9 Merc on it. We took many a lake trout, crappie and bass with that thing...Very stable, very solid boat. Highly recommend it if you're thinking about building one.

I have been thinking about the same thing if my V20 rebuild goes ok. Either a flat bottom Carolina Skiff style boat or a kayak or both. For my boat build I was going to wing it and just get some measurements off aluminum boats and copy and papasize it.

Kracker, do some research on the Simmons Sea Skiff, they have quite a following, plans are available from the Carterret County Tech School(Wilmington NC). It may be a little more challenging than Ben Garvey type, but the results are worth it as they are very sea worthy and don't take a lot of hp to push them
