No experience 2-stroke to 4-stroke but the weight difference between the two is what you are experiencing. My heavier 2-stroke motor on the bracket did throw up spray from the cav plate being buried too deep with the motor mounted at the same height of the lightweight 2-stroke. I do get the wake over the motor if you dump the throttle.. It wants to settle in the stern first and that is when the wave of water forms up motor high behind the boat. If I use some trim tab coming off plane it doesn't do it at all.
Raising the motor can solve the spray issue. Burp the throttle just before the wave gets to the motor coming off plane?

Every engine AND prop setup is different, and they ALL require fine tuning to dial them in.

I went from the 2 to the 4 with my F225 it was horrible, cav plate to deep, big wave behind boat when stopping, and the scuppers under water all the time, that why I have the HDPI now.
Move the motor all the way to top hole see if that helps?

Sure sounds like Ridge is on it as usual. Boat is probably sitting a couple of inches lower in the water with the 4 stroke. Have to raise the motor accordingly to compensate for the lowered stance.

I removed a 20" 1999 merc 60 hp 2s off of my dad's 18.5' alum bass tracker and put a 2000 honda 90 hp 4s in it's place.... we had to mount the engine in it's highest possible position and I'd like it to be an inch higher... the merc was two holes from the top and cavitated if moved up.

moving two out of three bats along with the onboard charger to the front and mounting an anchor winch on the front made a HUGE difference..... look into moving as much weight as far forward as possible before moving the engine though I suspect that you'll end up raising it in the end.

You can take a couple friends along on a test run to test if moving weight forward will help...but I would think you are going to have to move the motor up some.

My buddy has to use the throttle blip method to keep the wake from comming into the boat when he comes off plane in his 18' Nitro Bass boat.
