Default Help Removing Hose Barb from Poly Tank?

I suspect I have a ball valve in the hose barb. I want to replace it with a regular hose barb. Took off the fule line and I put a wrench on the hose barb itself. It kinda torques to the side and does not budge. I noticed a large metal nut at the base of it. Do I need to find a large wrench to hold this nut while I try to turn the hose barb? Or do I need to be turning that instead? Seems like that nut would stay put and the hose barb will just screw out of it. I put some lube on it yesterday.
My biggest concern is ruining the poly tank by trying to turn it too hard.......
p.s. Not much room to work in the inspection hatch.

That nut might stay there but you are going to have to hold it to be able to get enough power to it to get the barb off.

That is what I was thinking. I just don't want to F up the tank, ya know? Also I do not want to have to pop the tank hatch. The hatch appears to be glassed in place from the factory and since it isn't soft or anything I don't want to disturb it if I can help it. I thought it was just bedded in place but I put my hand thru the round inspection hole and felt under there and there is no seam on the underside?

Dang Rick, that is the shizzle....spent the better part of the day yesterday searching THT on this very subject. Looks like you hit pay dirt with little effort? Guess I was holding my mouth wrong?

P.S. "Rib-Fest" is going on accross the street from work today thru Saturday. I fully expected to be overwhelmed by smokey azz juicy rib smells as I walked up the sidewalk. All I could smell was diesel smoke and a touch of charcoal. They just don't know how it is supposed to be done! I'll be going over there 3 - 4 times a day. ;-)

Got the fuel pickup removed. G said we needed a pipe wrench....did the trick. No anti-siphon valve. What looked like two pine needles came out of the pickup tube tho. I've only got like 10 gallons in it right now. I thinking pump it out?

The pickup tube is just a flexible rubber tube crimped on the elbow at the top. At the end there is a copper piece crimped on. The copper piece has a spring in it. The top of the spring is bent over across is the middle of the passage, I'm assuming to keep big stuff out? Anybody seen this? The rubber tube shows no signs of wear from ethanol. Everything looks good. Better than I expected.

Blue - just read this thread and the other on the floor removal to access the tank. What happened? Did you have a fuel issue? Clogged?

I ask because I have the same boat and I just had a fuel issue myself - though it looks like the fuel pump on my engine just went.

Rarely happens, but will be going along just fine, then starves for fuel. I shut down and primer bulb is flat as a pancake. To fix, I disconnect the fuel line going into the H2O sep and blow back down into the tank. I thought the hose barb might have the antisiphon valve sticking, but I found it does not have one in it. It about has to be inside the tank. By the way, my fuel pump went out about 2 years ago. Symptoms I had then included not being able to reach desired RPM.
