What kind of prep/sanding tips could you offer before the painting. I did my deck with Durakbak 2 years ago and it has done well. I sanded out the cracks and tried to clean with xylene then rolled it on.
Should I repeat this process for the hull and gunnels?

You need to use a wax remover before you begin sanding, or you will heat the wax and melt it into the existing surface.
After sanding, make sure you get all the dust off the surface to ensure a good adhesion bvetween the surface and your new paint. If you're using a good, thick paint, you probably don't need to worry about spider cracks. If you do want to address the stress cracks, you have to grind them out with a dremmel and fill them with resin. |

Thank you for that, I don't paint much. What's the best way to make sure all the dust is off before painting?

I used the overpriced interlux product. I found that Acetone made the previous coat become tacky, so went back to the interlux product. I've been told rubbing alcohol is fine.

I used a tack cloth to remove dust on my Mercury Cowl. It got Urethane car paint by Dupont.
