Default Nearshore trip

With the seas laying down pretty good I decided to make a nearshore run in the 18' Fisherman.

We hit the DUA reef about 8 miles off of Ossabaw sound. We started the day trolling a bit and ended up with a Cuda and some decent Spanish Mac. We then switched gears and did some bottom fishing catching a ton of short Sea Bass, Grunts, small Jacks and a Flounder. I caught the flounder on a 4oz. butterfly jig that I was bouncing off the bottom.

Overall a great day to be on the water.

They are some toothy bastards.....looks like the seas were pretty flat...they do always look flatter in pics than real life but they look pretty comfortable.

Lucky Jack - .......The Surprise is not old; no one would call her old. She has a bluff bow, lovely lines. She's a fine seaboat: weatherly, stiff and fast, very fast, if she's well handled. No, she's not old; she's in her prime.

They were pretty flat, I was able to run 30mph out and in. There was also a flat bottom Carolina Skiff out there so you know it wasn't too rough.

You got that right, I was trying to entice some of the larger Sea Bass with the jig. Happy to see the flounder instead.
