| Thru Hull Speedo

From the top... And from the bottom... Pretty sure this isn't water tight...when we swapped trailers at Toms River, Pete pulled the plug and drained some water...I'm thinkin' this is the leaky culprit...

thats the kind of speedo we used on the big boats, if the thru hull was sealed, then the plugs is usually good to go. I'd pull that thing out(everyone uses gps for speed now), and use that hole for a thru hull transducer. BTW, I'd start stripping the bottom paint now, you've got a big job ahead looking at how many layers are on the bottom. Get some paint stripper, some chip brushes to spread it out, drop tarps to catch the crap and a scraper with a long handle. Don't forget gloves

Yeah, that bottom makes me feel better. I have been putting off my bottom paint removal for a while. After seeing how much paint is on that one I just may get started on mine today.

anything that has a long list of cautions. If it says environmentally friendly or cleans up with water, don't use it, you need the bad stuff, look for aircraft stripper. Seriously, don not try to sand any off with out proper respiratory mask and a full body suit(don't ask how I know)

I sanded off the paint up to the boot stripe when I painted my boat last year. I wore just a face mask. I felt ill in the evenings after I was done. I need to buy or find someone with a pressure washer to help get me started.

Oven cleaner works great for clean up of small areas after the stripper has gotten through the thick stuff.

I know everyone has their favorite, but I've always had good luck with Zip-Strip. Easy to find (Home Depot) in large gallon containers. Easy to apply (Paint roller on a stick), Easy to remove (Garden hose or pressure washer) Simply put, it works. (Just give it time to do it's job... leave it on for a while.. follow the directions.) And by all means, use a mask, gloves, and some tyvec clothing.
