Talking 'gansett bay toggin.

We Hit the tog hard today. Great first real fishing day. Ended up with 12 or 14 keeper tog, released all, most 19 and 20 inches with the first fish of day largest at 22 inches. A couple shorts and two tiny chogies, bait stealing bassturds!

Narragansett Bay, if you know it well you will know where we were. We will be there tomorrow also, see you there!

test thread, first just from my phone, with pictures, so hopfully it's not all funky.

DB,

Wow nice white chinners for sure! Them buck tooth bastids are ugly as hell but man are they tatsy. I have never fished in Narraganset Bay so I am not familiar where you were, but I sure would like to know because my wife loves them taugs. We are heading out on Monday out of Judith for some fluke. First time out this year and we are excited. Great pics and great job!

If your going out of point judith, just come out of the harbor of refuge and turn left. Run until you see the jamestown bridge. Plum Beach Lighthouse is right there. Fish real close to the concrete block with the iron structure, there some good holes in the rocks about ten feet out from concrete.

It looks like this.
You can see the iron structure on the right.

I was stationed in Newport RI at the destroyer piers back in the mid 60's. Used to take the Jamestown ferry (before the bridge was built) to get home to NJ. Fished that area many times when I didn't have leave or a 72 hr. liberty and had to stay close to the base. Thanks for the good memories.

DB,

Thanks so much for the info! If we do not get any luck at the Block in the morning, I will head to that spot and give it a whirl. Some old timer told us about a spot that is a hotbed for fluke. He told my buddy to go into "Old Harbor" (inside) and drift in 50 to 60 feet of water and you will nail king size doormats. The old guy claims the draggers cannot go in there and the fluke thrive. So I pass this info on to you for now and I will give you a report Tuesday as to how we made out. I have never tried that spot either so it's hit or miss right now. Thanks again DB and keep an eye out for us on the water!

Went out toggin again today. It was much rougher and windier than yesterday. It took us about 10 tries to get anchored. But once there and in the right spot the fish were still there. Not quite in the numbers like yesterday but we still limited out. I think the lower numbers were mainly our inability to get right on the spot.
