Default V20 for sale in Virginia

Hey Guys,
Here's a '74 V-20 I found under the barter section in the Richmond, Va Craigslist postings. I called & spoke to the guy...it has a 292 UPS Truck brand new crate engine in it. He found out there was some machine work involved to connect the outdrive, and some is left to do. Did not think to ask what he really would like to barter for, but a potential good find. He says the hull is in super shape.

I went and looked at this last spring when it was for sale. I drove an hour an a half to find out that 'brand new' means a block that was at one time brand new and has since been sitting outside for months (at that time...) uncovered without the head or manifolds. The whole block is rusted, out drive is rusted, and the rest of the 'new' engine parts were scattered around the inside of the boat. The boat looked to be in great condition but would definitely need a complete new motor and outdrive. The trailer looked decent but was rusted heavily in several places.
Again, this was a year ago, he may have cleaned it up or worked on the motor since then but from the condition it was left sitting in, i doubt it. Might make a good project.

The boy said exactly what you said...that the moter was left wide open to the elements, but he has since bought and installed a 292 crate engine that was ex-UPS truck surplus....he stated he found out how much of a difference there is between road & marine engines. He told me he has had alot of machine work done but there is more work , so yea maybe a good project boat. He claims the hull is in great condition...what's your view?
