Default Charleston Get Together

I'd figure I'd go ahead and make a topic on it, ask for all input. Some time between now and the end of March(after Christmass would be better for me, I might have my V up and running them). I'm still working on getting price for short term slips. Reel said he's providing BbQ, i can get enough oysters to fill us all up. Take a look at the Charleston tourist sites to figuer out what ya'll are intersted in. The marina I hve in mind is down town and has provisons for an oyster roast/cook out. Lots of accomidations, If you need ad rive by on aplace to see what it looks like, let em know. Open to all sugestions.

Sound Like A Good Idea to Me. My business travel schedule is always hectic and short notice, but I like the idea so let me know details as they evolve.

I don't have any firm plans at the moment. Sounds like fun to me. Never been to Charleston but always wanted to go. This will be a fine excuse to head down there.

I use Sea Breeze Marina, its not normally used for in the water slips as its a dry stack, but I know the manager and he will let us use the marina as a central point and use of its facilities. The marina doesn't lease out for wet slips. The marina is located at the old Jail House on the City Creek part of the Cooper River. It was right at the base of the old grace Bridge before they tore it down. It faces Drum Island with a view of the Yroktown from accross the harbour. Its right beside the Columbus Street terminal. Trailer parking may be an issue, but I'm working on it. You can actually see a glimps of the building before they renovated it during the movie Die Hard 2 in the scene where they pulled the Dodge truck off the bridge. City Marina is a nice place($$$), its mroe accomodating for in teh water slips, it also has a shuttle to the local sites, my old office was there right beside the Variaty Store Resturant. There is also Charleston Harbor Marina, right in front of the Hiton(figure Willy will be staying there), accross the harbor in Mt Pleasant. Ashely Marina is right beside City, and then The Bristol is right beside the Ashely. Ripley Light is accriss the water from Ashely. There are planty of otehr places to put in or more your boat, but having use of teh facilities for a gatehring may be an issue. Sea Brreze will be accomidating as long as we feed the manager

heres the link to the SCDNR site for all boating and fishing regulations. It has maps of landings as well. http://www.dnr.sc.gov/boating.html

This site has a lot of links to various maps and information on it fpr teh Charleston area. http://www.charlestonfishing.com/

I highly recomedn looking at Google maps of the area to see just how much water there is around here. There is a lot to do around here
