Default Tohatsu outboards

I have a 140 tohatsu on my v-20 and I dont know very much about them like I said in another therad when I tell people that thay tell me that thay are good engines or that have never heard of them. I read on onlineoutboards.com that tohatsu builds all nissan and mercury smaller than 40 that the paint was the only differance but that is about all the reserch I have done. Just wandering if anyone had any input

They are very underestimated motors. In my opinion, they are up there with all the rest, very good motors. They use them a lot in Japan and China for commercial fishing.

they are the oldest outboard manufacture in business today. Don't know what their problem is, could be just dealer network, but you really don't see any around here. Seems like they would be good on the repower market due to their light weight

Very good motors. We have a local boat builder here I buy trailer parts and stuff from. He deals them and puts them on his boats he builds. Been in the biz around here for over 40 years and he swears by them. If I can afford a new one one day I want a 140 for my 18. Know several guys that run them and they love em. See them alot of oyster boats around here too and they get abused daily.
