Default New Toy!

Got a new old toy from my father in law. 81 Vette.
Plenty to do and of course forgot to take any pictures before I started stripping the inside.
Plenty to do and will take a while, but should be sweet when done.

Dang!
You gonna stay within the original design?
Lots and lots and lots of possibilities.
Too much, way too much!
Knew a wrecker shop guy that perverted a couple of his to Daytona types and Station wagon types.
There's just something about fiberglass and motors.

Don't really like the Daytona style, but convert to manual is in the list as well as side pipes. Rally rims.

Thinking, now that I have some fiberglass experience from the V trying to make a custom center console. But will see as it comes together.

A lot to do before I get close to any of the above.

I worked for a Corvette restoration company in NC back in 87-88. we placed second with a 66 roadster at the Cypress Garden show, placed in the top 100 at Bloomington the same year. I wouldn't get too crazy with the body mods, you can kill the value of a vette quick. As far as the interior, the 81 had one of the best from the third generation cars. Does it have the cross fire injection? I'd concentrate on the suspension and motor. Check out Stainless Brakes suspension kits, I've installed a couple of them and they are real nice(their brakes are nice also)

The Z-28 wheels look good on it......I've never seen a Vette with them before........I like it.

No crossfire. My father in law swapped the motor to what seems like a 350 from another vette.

Nice kits from Stainless will be reaching out to them soon enough as working on the underside is task 1 for me. Not a pan off resto though. Building some wooden ramps to get the car up off the ground by about 18 inches. Should be easier to work on it that way.
