Default Took the kids for a boat ride today

I had wanted to do this for a while now. We left the house around 9:00 and headed for Atlantic Highlands municipal ramp. We had launched the boat and were underway by 10. You couldn't ask for a better day. Almost no wind,no chop no swell. We cleared Sandy Hook, passed Roamer Shoals light and headed for the VZ bridge. After that we came up to Ellis Island. Then further up the Hudson we passed the Intrepid. After passing under the GW Bridge we made a right turn into the Harlem river. We passed Yankee stadium,a bunch of lift bridges, through Hells Gate, past South Street Seaport, then back into the Harbor. We got around Manhattan faster than I thought and there was plenty of gas left. So we headed around the backside of Staten Island(Arthur Kills,Kill Van Kull). It's pretty industrial back there, nothing worth taking pics of,but I'm glad we did it. That took us back into the Raritan bay @ Perth Amboy. Still no wind,no chop. So we start heading back to the ramp. Just west of the ammo pier we decided to anchor for a little while to go swimming. The water was 78 degrees and felt great. We got back to the ramp around 3. Pulled the boat and headed home. It truely was a great day with my kids.

Cool man, thats a great trip isn't it? Looks like it was really flat which helped with your time I'm sure...I've only done that trip on weekends and it can be pretty rough out there.....The most striking part I remember is that area up in the Harlem River and upper part of the East River you really are amazingly isolated....I'm pretty sure we are heading out Wednesday...arent going up that far but got to take advantage of this awesome weather we got going.

Very nice Pete, glad you had calm seas and blue bird skies. This is the most beautiful time of year here in the north east.
Never made that full loop around, always tooled around NY Harbor and then returned.
May have to change that thought.
Well done my friend and great shots

we went to Tices on Sat. too. At first we rafted up to some friends on the western edge of the pack but it was a little too rough for my wife. So we went right up close to the boardwalk and found BREILLY (Brad) and anchored next to him. It was a great day. The water was a little cold though.
