Now that the runaway well has been capped and there is no more oil gushing into the gulf, I keep hearing news reports that much of the oil has just magically "disappeared" and that fishing grounds are back open. Wonder what all of you down there are experiencing as far as fishing, cleanliness of the marshes, beaches, etc. Read a report about a shrimp trawler who trawled for 25 miles and got one (1) shrimp. Fisheries folks said it is low oxygen levels not caused by oil, but rather, by very warm water with little circulation. Tell us the real story if you can.

late july and august are usually not very good as far as bay fishing in our area. water temps are very hot right now. i was out last week in our bay and the water temp was 94.6 in 4 ft of water, 89.4 in the deeper. as far as oil, our area (panama city) has seen very little slick and a few tar balls. i'm afraid this stuff is in the water column somewere and will show up later. i do know bp has a lot less presence now than a month ago. i am sure the crew to the west of me has more info.
