Hello all.I just purchased a 1978 v20 sunrider for $200 with a trailer. The only outboard I have is a 1963 gale-oms 60hp 4 cyl 2 stroke.I understand the engine is a bit old and small for this size of boat.I only plan on putting around on lake st clair here in michigan. Will this be ok to do?Thanks in advance and I am so happy to have located this v20 club!-Alex

![]() V20 sunrider? 200 bucks for boat and trailer? Please make sure it's seaworthy and the transom is sound.

Well, for trolling speed probably ok, but faster may cause the engine to " lug " ....meaning pushing the boat at below hull planning speed which is " pushing through the water " rather than skimming across the water. Result - it could kill the engine, especially over time.
Better to find a used 130 hp or bigger and then be ok with it. |

Gonna need at least a 150HP for that size boat.

60 hp plus being very old, it should push your boat but I don't think you will be very happy with it but the good side is you don't have to slow down in a no wake zone.
