Default Steering Problem

Just got her wet this weekend and what a great weekend it was! Everything ran great but i was told by my mechanic who worked on the boat over the winter that the steering was going. Well sure enough the steering is very tight and doesnt feel right. He said that he could replace it for me but i would rather do it myself. I have a 1989 V20 with a Yamaha 130. The boat is in the water and im hoping i can do it while it is in. Any help possible would be great i.e. pictures, parts, step by step on how to resolve this problem. I know you guys have been very helpful in the past so i am excited for the response.
Thank you in advance!
-Jim

Jim,
Did you see this thread regarding steering replacement?

We had to lift the motor off the transom to get the steering cable in and out on our boat.

TBL - take not of the steering bezel angle. If I remember correctly the NFB cable jobs I've bought and installed before had both a 90 degree and 20 degree bezel to choose from but the hydraulic system I bought, the 20 degree bezel had to be purchased separately. Apart from that, what inaforty said - a lot of V20er's have had to remove the engine to get the cable system installed, but not all V20er's.
