Default that's why they call it fishing

and not catching.

This time I was the lonely fool who was just snagging seaweed. Went out late afternoon into dark and trolled around the mouth off the canal, nothing.

This was my first "night adventure" in the boat and I was surprisingly comfortable with it once I was there in the "dark". My programed gps got me back through the channel just fine. Didn't need the spotlight, but it was ready. What I did notice was that my compass was not lit, so my only back up was a hand held gps. But I didn't venture far from home to begin with...

next time.. whenever that may be...

I for one appreciate these kinds of reports. These are the ones you never hear about.

Hey you don't know til you go and last time I checked it is almost impossible to catch em if lines are not in the water. I look at it like paying your dues. It isn't going to be on fire all the time, so every time you fish and it sux, most likely next time it won't suck.

Congrats on a safe, enjoyable trip on the worlds greatest hull.

Get em next time.

In the spirit of openness, I'm 4 trips out without a bite to report yet...

Been in the upper Narragansett Bay only so far, and primarily and trolling with lures. Will give some live bait a shot next week. Folks here are recommending sand worms

It happens brother. We're trying to go to Hatteras for Memorial day weekend, offshore fishing. The low pressure has everything up in the air. There are 8 of us that are supposed to go but emotions are mixed as to whether we should push on or change plans. If the seas stay rough it is possible we may not be able to get out of the inlet at all. However we would be able to fish the sound every day for flounder.

One thing is for sure I'm not feeling all of this drama!

oh ya, I have lots of experience with this "fishing, not catching" thing. I was just pretty sure I was going to be successful that last time. Ain't gonna stop me!

The wife and I are planning a trip to NH over the long weekend, so I will be missing some prime fishing time. I'm hoping I can squeeze a fishin trip in before we leave but also have weather concerns.
