Bottom all painted!!
Almost ready for the slip now!! Thanks to my son!
Starting of the tape    Better him then me!!   Poor Bastard!! Was cleaning with paint thinner for a hour!! LOL  But in the end he did a great job!!

Looks good man. Your son did a great job but I guess the paint put ya over-budget for a tyvek suit huh?

Nice to see the son doing his part. It was my father that infused boating in my blood.
I'm trying to take my bottom paint Off. I've done half the transom and about 5' along the aft/portside. Being I keep the boat on a trailer I figure I would go around bare glass. I like the clean look. I also hope to get less resistance when going through the water. (am I fooling myself ?) Anyway, great shots of the boat and the new pic at the base of your posts shows the boat in a very aggressive (Tough) light.

Personally I highly recommend getting someone to do the job since it leaves a lot of residue on the ground (Baking soda and paint mixed together) that needs to be cleaned up. If you're going to be trailering only then yes, no paint is the way to go. IMHO.

Excellent suggestion Destroyer. I just had the inside of a sailing dingy done (much coarser).
Why didn't I think about that for the bottom of my boat. Can the gelcoat be buffed back to a shine?

Labor of love
Thanks for the insight gents. Thus far I have been using a fiberglass friendly paint remover and a sharp scraper. It takes time but the gelcoat shines as new once compounded and polished with a professional grade buffing machine. I guess I'll have to stick with that since I want to leave the gelcoat intact as long as possible.
Once again the OX looks great !!!
