Default Some pics of the repower

Hey yall its been a while. Hope everyone survived this nasty, endless winter. Well its been almost 10 months in the making so I'll let the pics do most of the talkin. Pay no mind to the date stamp,I'm stupid.

Before:

Motor mounts, fiberglassand gel coat work:Sorry about the foggy pics.

After:

Generation II drive and gimbal housing assy.:

New dash and switch panel:

Electrical panel in cabin.Probably lightened the boat by 200lbs. in copper:

Starboard glove box:(Auto-pilots sitting on kitchen table)

Whoopsie, how'ed that last one get in there?

Still gotta deal with the soft bow deck, install the new bigger trim tabs and figure out which prop will work best. Been toying with the idea of installing the new Mercury High Five 5 blade prop but still waiting on some feedback from Mercury if its gonna work out for the best. Expensive gamble right there. Got some video of a few test runs but don't know how to post them. Was doin about 45mph on the gps and still pulling but couldn't hang onto the camera and drive at the same time.

Appreciate the kind words. Ridge,I'm running a 15 1/4"X17P that I borrowed from my neighbor and it really slips till I get to about 20-25mph then its starts bitting. Might be the extra HP that we got outta the motor, don't know yet. Can't just go and re-tune a borrowed prop without buyin it ya know. Stock HP was 210 till we reworked the heads, bored .30 on the cylinders and a bunch of other goodies. Maybe somewhere in the 250-260HP class now and easily lookin at 60+ mph. Wanna race?

The prop in your pic will slip BAD until it gets on up in the RPM range with an I/O set-up. The blades on it just don't have enough surface area to get a good bite at low RPM's which is where an I/O needs it the most.

Well, HE double hockey sticks Yeah! That sounds like a plan. You will definitely need several more inches of prop though. I have been messing with my setup and I can turn the 23 Tempest to the limiter when light so I am stepping up to the 25 Tempest. I don't know if my 250 EFI Merc will turn it yet. My prop slip is a little high. Even if I was a little faster you will probably run cirles around me with fuel mileage.
Going to watch the go fasts in Sanford this weekend. I got the bug.
I do have a 21p Thunderbolt (blades like the Mirage but without the exhaust relief holes) if you want to try it. Just a matter of shipping.
Let me know.
How many RPM do you plan to turn with that hot rod?
