Default quick poll: 1994 evinrude 60 or a 1987 40 yamaha?

I've got a chance at two different motors. One is a 1994 evinrude 60 and the other is a 1987 40 hp yamaha. Both come with controls and props. Price is about 400 more for the yamaha. Owner of the yamaha says it's only been used about 10-15 hrs a year, and it is SUPEr clean. Haven't seen the evinrude yet but owner of it says that it has a new tilt/trim motor etc.

What do you guys think?

If the EVINRUDE checks out, it would get my vote. I personally like made in USA, plus parts are easier and cheaper to come by for the EVINRUDE.

i like the evinrudes, but that Yamaah is a good engine, around here, you could sell that Yamaha 10 times before any one would look at the evinrude

I don't think you can decide til you see the Rude...like said, if it checks out, I'd take it for the extra ponies...20 more horses will feel a lot better under throttle, and CB's right...those 3 cyl motors have been beeing made for a LONG time now and proven to say the least...parts easily available and yada, yada, yada...I vote for the extra HP yer gonna get from the Rude...although I have to say, if the HP were equal, I'd pick the Yamaha...

Headed to Ga. tomorrow to look at the rude, and see it run, and hopefully bring it home. Thanks guys.. Now i'm debating the work I was going to do to the mckee as opposed to hooking the motor up and going fishing..lol.
