Default Some numbers

Ended up repowering with a 2000 Johnson 150 Horse Looper and was surprised the numbers were only slightly better than the '84 Crossflow I had on it.

From what I remember about the '84, it would only do about 5100rpm with a 14x19ss prop, draw up to 22gph and do 43mph (1.95mpg).
The '00 will do the same (today way rough water and wind) rpm, with the same prop but draw a little over 18gph (2.32mpg).

(It would do 44mph at 5100rpm the other way down the river)
Here is the '00 at idle in neutral.

And at idle speed (3.38mpg).

About 3900rpm and 30mph (2.71mpg).

About 4200rpm and 37mph (2.63mpg).

Well, what do y'all think??
I'm gonna try a couple or few different props but have no complaint with what I've got so far.

That looper needs to turn up a bit more to get good milage, but those fuel burn numbers are pretty good. The newer 150/175's are not the greatest on fuel, but make up for it in reliability.

I love those motors, good luck with her Tsubaki, only real question is how do you like the response with it?

Congrats on the new to you power, numbers don't seem to bad to me.

Just did a long run in the OX and I can't wait to fill it up to see what the numbers are?

Thanks guys!
The motor is more responsive and quieter than any I've had before.
So far, I've ran about 25 gallons of fuel with Sea Foam mixed in it.
Still got the same plugs in it since we brought it home. I'll change them this week and see if there is any difference.
The motor had been sitting in a boat shop for about 5 years. Someone brought their boat in and wanted more power. The shop owner had it in the show room for a little over two years till someone else bought it to go on a boat they had not yet purchased. After making payments for about two years and still no boat, they decided to try to recover some money from it.
The shop owner was more than happy to get it out of the way. He acknowledged the prop had been robbed over the years, said to run the motor, tell him the numbers and he would get me another one.
We'll see!

not bad but you need to get little more RPM's out of those loopers. get it to around 5600 - 5800 WOT.

I used to run a 15x17 SS prop when I had that exact motor. Can't remember what the top speed was but I am thinking 42 mph at about 5400rpm's. It seemed like a good fit.

Not bad Tsub. A 17 pitch would probably get you more RPMS wouldn't it?

The thing that always threw me on the EAGLE series is the sound they make starting up. Them starters sound funky to me with the wirling sound.

yeah a stainless OMC 15x17 would be perfect on that app.
