Default rod boxes?

I have started the repairs on my 20 and i'm curious if anyone has any good ideas for repairing/replacing the rod boxes... I have taken them out and am considering a couple of options. I'd like to keep some sort of storage there, weather it be rods or something else. Right now the boxes are in rough shape and will have to basically be recreated based on the form of what I have left here. Any help or ideas? Thanks.

Are you any good with fiberglass? You could repair them and put them back in.

How much do you use the boxes for rods? Keep one for rods and the other as a tackle station.

I'm about to learn how good I am with glass.. I have used it before, but it's been a long time and it was just a seat in an old aristocraft. I figure this will be a good chance to get my feet wet again. Thanks.
