Default 71 or 72 60 hp selectric Evenrude

I have this 15' Bonita boat, Evenrude and trailer I rescued from an old gas station for $500 in Atlanta 4 years ago.

I got the Evenrude checked out and the man said it had great compression and he cleaned the carbs and it ran strong. Super clean inside and cranked fast without choke. Pissed hard and I ran it many times.

I planned on rebuilding the boat and did ripping out all wood and glassing new stringers and deck. Now the Selectric shifter is toast and I'm trying to find a replacement.

I have been all over the internet and I cant find one,,,any tips?

P.S.
Find me one and fishing trip is on me,,,beer and all!
I'll even clean all the giant sheephead we catch!
I'm desperate,,,gotta get this thing usable without buying a new outboard...if possible

I'll post pics asap

He has helped me a couple of times. Knows ALOT about OMC products. He also has some vintage stuff for sale on there so I think he has a good selection of older pieces and parts.

For all I know it's both.
If this is worthless let me know,,,,four bolt tune up means un-bolt the engine and let it go right.

Those electric shifts are the only OMC products I avoid.
Usually they rot in the foot, replacing the solenoid is expensive and a pain.
I'd plan on finding a blown or cheap 3 cylinder and use the powerhead off the electric shift, if needed. You will also need a control box.
That Bonita will do alright with a 2 cylinder 50 horse on it also.

Here is a pos but with a 70 on it, has controls. See if he will take $500 and donate the boat and trailer somewhere. Likely a lot cheaper than repairs on the electric shift.

Fishing with blue:

I have one myself, that I can't kill. Why do you think the controls are no good? Are you sure it's not the solenoids in the lower unit? Have you Checked Ebay. They often come up, as well as the replacement push button for the controls. Don't forget to look at the Johnson Hydro electric shifter, they fit as well.

Shifter is in good shape and works, but has missing key. Best offer taken.

This engine is a lot newer and I'm not sure about the foot bolting up or if better to try and get it running.

kamikaze, if he changes from the electric shift, the control box will need changing also.

When thru with the stuff you don't need, sell it or look this guy up.
