Sorry I have been remiss.
I am not sure what performance numbers you all are looken for. I never run WOT, because I have to pay to fix it. The boat will do 20kts at 4200rpm, light. 5000rpm is 26kts, light. Mileage is still around 5mpg, less if loaded. By loaded I mean, full fuel, three big coolers of ice, three to four big guys, (I am 375). The gulf stream is six miles off now, and I troll medium fast. Lobstering in the gulf is at about six kts. Got questions?

What is the max rpm rating on it?
You mention knots, is this knots or is it mph?

Must be nice living down there in paradise, 6 miles from the stream.
Max rpm on the 140 is 6200. It wont break, and if it does its under warranty. OPEN THAT BABY UP!!!!!

Well guys the "stream" is 32 miles off today.
I forgot to mention that the boat has a painted bottom and sometimes carries 'stuff' with it. I was surprised how much slime and cridders were riding along last week when I took some folks snorkeling. Speed is in Knots, measured by gps. I know I could push it up a bit; but we don't get too many days this time of year for that. The wind has droped out for a few days right now; but it has been blowing for weeks. I usally push the boat as fast as I need to, to get a good ride; sometimes that is less than 2000. Just under 4000 will keep it off plane so I can push through the square chop we get down here; without getting wet. All said, this motor is a good fit for this boat. If the boat was any heaver or loaded all the time, it would need more hp or a prop reduction. The mileage makes me love it.

Update.
In the last spell of good weather, the alarm went off for the 100 hour oil change. So today I changed oil (still very clean) and filter to stay in warrenty. $38 and $20 for the ramp. Hopefully the weather will back off a bit and it will not take so long to put the next hundred hours on it. The stream is moving off again, but there are still some dolphin around and the crab pots need haulin.

Snoozer,Hows the crabbing been? I built some pots out of milk crates and plan on putting them out first of march. Our season up here slows way down in Dec, Jan, & Feb and starts to pick up in march. We don't have enough for commercial guys just a few recreational boats. We're going to try to get down to big pine this summer for a couple of weeks and are looking for a house. got any suggestions? The last time we were there we had a house by no name, but i don't think it is still in rental. Glad to hear the new motor is working out . A friend of mine has the same one on a 24 ft carolina skiff and loves it. He has had it about 15 months and has 350 hours on it.

Don't baby that engine too much. Running at WOT allows the engine to properly seat the rings. The engines that come in to my shop with the most problems are engines that are used for a lot of trolling and hardly ever see WOT. All 4 strokes will "make oil" to some degree or another (Yammies, which I absolutely love, are somewhat notorious for that) and engines that are never opened up will make more than those that are run at WOT on a regular basis. I'm not saying to beat the crap out of your engine but don't go the other way either and take it easy thinking that you are being gentle on you engine. By the way, what prop are you running on that? I just repowered a V20 with a 140 Zuke and I need a good prop stating place.
