Sorry

Predation, in this instance is refering to the Lobsters being prayed upon by other critters.

Detritus, (my spelling has never been great) is refering to the pieces of eaten lobsters (shells) littering the bottom in places where lobsters used to be.

Well, let me tell you, I'm as happy as a two dicked dog.

I have not had it WOT yet and may never feel the need to go that fast. In flat water it will fun 28Knt at five thousand rpm. My normal cruising RPM is 4200-4400, at something like 20Kts. (by GPS) There is usually a full tank and a load of something (mostly ****) and two or four people.

The mix of running and trolling, (idleing looking for lobsters) adverages five MPG or a little more. The spects on the motor say it will burn 4+ GPH at 4500 RPM and I think it is spot on. Thats five gal per twenty miles at twenty knots, and I am happy with that after the two strokes in my life.

I have been holding off fixing up the boat somewhat, to see if the combo would be OK. I think its fine, and am getting the cushions redone and sprucing up the boat some. I also bit the bullit for a better sounder to pick fish out of the rocks.

Suzuki's warenty is a mystery. Oil changes have to be Suzuki stuff, and it is pricey. They also require valve checking/adjusting at two hundred hours, an eight hour job for the Suzuki tech. At $110 per hour, its not an inexpensive motor to maintain. I have over 120 hours on it now, so I'll be there soon.

If any problems come up I will post it on the site. For now I am pleased.

Let me add a couple things. The neighbors here call it the 'stealth boat' now because it so quiet. And if I had it to do over, I'd get a 25 inch motor and build up the transom. Way too much water comes over into the well on this boat. And if two people are in the stern, the aft hatch better not leak.
I took twenty pots out last week (all loaded forward of the console) in three footers. Took it slow and had not problems untill I turned around, then got pooped.

Good stuff to hear. On a good note, everybody that I know has taken the motor in to be checked but I don;t think anybody has ever had the valves adjusted. THey just check it and it's always been in spec. I love them Suzy's.

They do here. The guy still has two leftover 140's at $8,000, but will not sell them unless he does the install. He did a nice job on mine, but very pricey I think.
