Ran into a huge jam today :(

The new server has a FTP limt were you can't load more then 2000 files at a time, and we have over 20,000 just in one folder, after serveal talks with the tec people and there refusal to up the limt from the 2000 I dumped them today!!

But I have already bought into a new hosting Co, and will start again Thursday :-/
Hope things go better this time!!

NOw I hope there is not going to be a issue with getting the 6 months in advance I payed for the server ???

On the new board I just bought 1 month till we figure out if its going to work for are needs.

Are webmaster Valiant has busting his A$$ for a week now and this has been the only thing stoping us from going on the new server!! We were hoping to do it tonight :(,

O well its a coming thanks John for all your hard work and you guys stand by while we try to get this thing going!

Isn't FTP fun?

I use it on a regular basis for transferring files,
and sometimes it can be very tempermental.

I will spend a whole day and then realize I have a space
in a file name where there should be none or an underscore.

That sux MJ!! Keep up the good work. Who would have guessed that there'd be a file limit that small.

Hi everyone. I feel I have to weigh in here and clear up some things.

First of all, this is not the new site. As you read, there was a problem with the new server people. Despite your oh faithful leaders best folding money, the new guys seemed not to understand that I need FULL FTP access to all the files that are a part of the board, not just the ones they deem fit for me to see (approximately 10%, as it happened), so as a result they are no longer our new hosting service.

Unfortunately, this means that I have to start again from scratch on yet ANOTHER new server, which hopefully will not have silly FTP LIST limits like the other guys did.

In the meantime, I have gotten a lot of the ground work done. A full site backup has been secured and the current YaBB version of this board has been upgraded slightly to a version that is more compatible with vBulletin in preparation for the upgrade.

Before we pulled the plug on the other guys, I was able to import the data from this forum to the new vBulletin. It sort of worked, but the import was corrupted. That is where the problem came in, when I was unable to verify the integrity of the data on the new server in an effort to diagnose the problem with the import because of their silly LIST limit. If you don't understand much of this geek talk, don't worry, Joe fired those guys in a conference call in which I participated in this past Saturday. You all would have cheered that.

Anyway, we WILL get where we are going, but it will take a while to iron out all of the bugs and get everything perfect. Your patience in this transitional period is appreciated.
