i added nothing to my paint as my floor in that boat was already so rough it would cut your feet it needed to be smoother. that was only 1 coat. you could add large playground sand on top of a wet 1st coat and paint on a thinned second coat.

Here is a reply from one of those paint companies.
Hmm, a rubber paint on a hull ???
Should I or shouldnt I ??

I am filling with West System epoxy and mesh cloth-

For a permanently waterproof, flexible bond:

Prime w/PermaFlex

Patch using the LRB/TAV

Surface coat w/PermaFlex

Can this product be applied to a fiberglass hull-

Yes, 2 coats PermaFlex applied @ 240 sq ft gal per coat

Does the hull need to be dewaxed-

Yes & the fiberglass needs roughened up, see below

Can it be applied by a roller and brush-

yes

Do you see brush marks after it drys-

No, not unless you work too slow

Price for gallon-

The catalog of Sample Packs, products, container sizes, colors w/pricing & on-line order form @ http://www.sanitred.com/productprice$.htm

Fiberglass Application:

1. The first thing you would do is prepare the substrate. Meaning remove any loose crumbly substrate, make sure the substrate is clean, dry, free of any previous applied products, and foreign matter. For best results fiberglass should be sand blasted. This will give the best surface texture for a life-time adhesion and maximum durability. If sandblasting is not applicable, one may try to replicate that surface using coarse sand paper.

2. Prime the substrate with 1 coat of PermaFlex (240 sq ft per gal).

3. Patch and profile any joints, seams, cracks, holes, etc... using LRB/TAV mixture.

4. Topcoat using 1 coat of PermaFlex or PermaFlex-AL (240 sq ft per gal). PermaFlex-AL is our extreme UV resistant outdoor topcoat (above water only). PermaFlex is used as the topcoat below water.

Decided to go with the other brand: Top Secret. They stated that it will look like a spray finish when completed.
Guess I'll find out. ;D
