Same here, Trout. We've all been praying for everyone in LA, MS & AL who've been affected by Katrina, and will continue to. I hope your stuff wasn't too damaged, but thank goodness you and your family are OK. My wife has family in Marrero (sp?) that we've not heard from yet.

Hey guys, thanks for the warm remarks. Let me try to answer a few questions. NO, the V20 was not left at the camp. It was left in a wharehouse with 30ft ceilings. The idea was that it could float up in case of flooding. Both boats are there with unknown conditions. The funny thing is...I really don't much care right now. I have heard reports that my home may be intact. However, it really does not matter too much because the metropolitan area is unliveable for a while. It is time to move on and be productive somewhere else. Baton Rouge here we come. We have been offered a house to stay in, so I think that is the way to go. You would not believe some of the beautiful stories that we have heard of strangers helping strangers. My uncle was offered a home in Liberty, TX to house his family FOR AS LONG AS THEY NEED IT! This was a complete stranger that they met in a place serving warm meals to evacuees. It doesn't get better than that. You know, before the storm hit, I was less than a week from moving into my new home which we just totally gutted and remodeled. Sorry if I am ranting, my head is just swimming with thoughts, questions, and lack of answers. And just think, my family and I are part of the lucky ones. Thanks for everyone's prayers at this time and for responding. It feels sort of like normal to have you all to talk to. I will check back later when I can. By then I should be in Baton Rouge.

Sorry if I misled you. The new home is not in BR. It was only a mile away from old home. I heard from a few that it may have received a little water on the floors. I will know firsthand in a day or two. We are allowed to go home to gather what we have forgotten and secure our homes, but we have to be out for a few more weeks or months until they can get the infrastructure up and running again. The house we were offered in Baton Rouge was unliveable upon arriving yesterday. No air conditioning and it was just dilapidated. The silver lining however is that a friend (wealthy friend) has a business relationship with a land developer that has 5 homes for sale in a new neighborhood around Baton Rouge. 2 story starter home for about 150K. I think we may jump on this deal, as he is holding it for us to make a decision. There are no hotels in Baton Rouge with vacancy and the real estate is just being gobbled up like hot cakes.

Update: I had very little damage to the home in New Orleans. Both neighbors on the sides of me flooded, but I was saved by about an inch. I am now employed by the wealthy friend I mentioned above in Baton Rouge. The new home is bigger than I need, but it is great and well within budget. I went to the fishing camp and it is pretty depressing. I need to knock it down and invest in a double wide. Here is a pic. We had water up to the ceilings. The whole place is knocked off of its raised foundation and crumbling.

Here is an arial shot. Mine is the one in the upper left of the pic with a huge yacht in the front yard. It is resting on the front bedroom and is preventing the room from falling over. The place left of us has collapsing and the one on the right is GONE.
