Thats a V20!! But I think the transom has been replaced, there fore the VIN will be gone.
Got a lot of work to be done there but she should be great when done!! I had the 165 in my cuddy when I bought it, it was raw water cooled and it ran good the first few years but was rotting from the inside out! I had to replace the head (rot) exhaust riser and manifold (rot) after all that I said one more thing I am making it a Outboard, well it was running ruff and sounding weird, using oil but I was not going to look cause I knew I was going to try fixing it, so end of season I pulled the motor and converted to outboard with a bracket
The new used head I replaced it with rotted out fast and there was water getting in all over the place.
Good Luck with yours!! Get rid of all that plywood screwed to the floor and fix the right way also.

Thanks MJ

Those are just setting on there as hatches, want to replace it all with teak.
Been reading Krackers build & have some pretty good ideas' now.

Nice to know she is a V what year do you think she is? Needs soft floor replaced around the bilge & back of the new tank. She has a nice big tank down in there. What was the 60's V's like think she is of that Vintage?

What keeps me confused about this boat is the flat lowprofile cap with inner liner with the rodboxes?? They went with the rod box style inner liner when the raised the floor correct? And when they raised the floor they designed it with that high curb style cap correct?

EXACTLY what I was saying Kracker. The rod holder "boxes" in either side arent correct either. My '79 has them, but the ends are angled, not a rectangle

Hull is either V or from same mold, but the liner is not correct, which is why I have doubts. Can you do a HIN search like a VIN for a car?

Like mj said that HIN# is gone. And so is mine due to transom repairs. Drag check out the trasnsition line that's bout 2 Or 3 inches below the cap and into the inner liner.

But there has to be documentation for a HIN on registration, or title. My older V also has missing HIN on transom, but its on the title. How would you register/title it with no HIN at all?

he stated the title says boston whaler and he has other stuff leading in a different direction. Chris Craft had a V20 look a like at one point also. But like kracker says someone been messing with it and who knows?

Just fix it and use it, she will be fine!
