Does this mean I need to loosen the big screw and attempt to lift the motor at the same time. :'(

Only if you need her up right now. I wouldn't do it when its 17* outside, but its not a bad idea to excersise that screw once or twice a year anyway. So many times they are ignored for 15 years and then when they are needed, they are locked up.

hammer I had new seals and a new motor put on my trim and tilt at the end of the summer , Mine was leaking hydrollic fluid the whole process set me back like 520.00 and some change

Was out starting the V today and the tilt trim still aint working. Didnt want to try and lift the motor by myself, but in this pic, I see a broken wire and a round thing...solinoid ? is that the trim motor ??

Looks like it to me?? You will have to unscrew the release screw so that you can lift the motor up and get under there to check things out.

yeah, thats what i need to do, but the wife didnt want to lift the motor with one arm while I loosened the screw. ;D

Hammer, I think thats the sending unit for your trim gauge, which you may not have, or it never did work.
