I have an '89 Cuddy with the Suzuki DF140. The motor runs great. It's plenty fast for me and it sips gas. I think it's as good a match as you'll find.

Just be careful if you got the 3 year extended warranty. It seems that they set it up so that it's very difficult to comply with all of their requirements to keep the warranty valid. It may have just been the company Suzuki was using (GE).

I bought my Suzuki with about 100 hours and it has performed flawlessly. I just recently bought a brand new 90 hp Yamaha for my wife's bought (17' Whaler Montauk) which also runs great. I'd say the Suzuki is just a little bit quieter and smoother at idle though.

Good Luck with it.

Well Reel, your right I am a lucky guy.
I live on the sail boat here in Marathon, when I am not sailing.
The dinghy just does not cut the local conditions, and if you ever caught a kingfish in an inflatable boat you know what I mean. It becomes a deflatable quickly. The V20 is not 'the' tender, but one of them.

A kid in Key West had this boat for sale for a while, but every time I tried to look at it the price went up. Finally he ran it aground and packed the motor with white clay mud and cooked it. He called me the next day and told me he needed money and he really needed to sell the boat. He put a new waterpump in the old Johnson and I was dumb enough to buy it. To its credit the Johnson ran for a while, then one day started puking what looked like vanilla milkshake. Rest is soon to be history.

RIB, no extended warrenty on this motor as it is a leftover 2005, with a discount. I did my home work, and I am happy you all confrimed that what I thought is OK. Quiet and vibrationless efficiency beats speed any day. Thanks.

Thank you all for the welcome.

Update. With two hours into the breakin period, stats are:
2000rpm=6.8kt
3000rpm=10 to 11kts
4000rpm=18.8 kts

Conditions were flat to three feet. In the 1 to 3s speed fell off at 4000rpm to 17.5.
There was about 25-30 gallons of premix left in the tank, dealer said it would not hurt it, and it runs find.
Tomorrow will be a long day.
