No. It was a 20ft center console..not much fishing room compared to a 20 ft Mako or V-20's...I do like the way they are built but in the wind they dock like an old Pen Yan with the tunnel drive and you got to stay in deep water all the time...Frank

yeah Frank is right they do handle like an old Pen Yan, those were some of the sorriest handling boats in tight areas an if you get into shallow water your screwed. Pen Yan's all need to be converted into either a bracket boat or a reef.

Got to take exception to you on that one
Skools, the older system they had which had the an improved tunnel hull system similar to Penn Yan called the sp1 was again inproved and called the sp11 and there 24 footer has a draft of 24", the design I really like of theirs is called the SK system with a keel that comes back and fully protects the prop and rudder. Draft ranges from 18 to 24 inches depending on which size boat you get. Guys love them, you can run them right up the beach or a sand bar and pull right back out, they are extremely durable and trouble free. The one I was on handled manuevering very well, we drifted in a good current and in and around rock outcrops and pilings at slow speeds and I had the helm on a few drifts so others could fish and it was sweet. I think it would at least manuever as well as a V20 with a bracket. The draft obviously does not give you the ability to put the motor up and drift thru shallows like an outboard would but if you are going to fish any 24-28 foot boat in less than two feet of water your taking chances in my opinion. As a matter of fact isn't the draft on a V20 18 inches?. I know I wouldn't put my V in water less than three feet unless there was a Shinnecock Jetty Rock Hopper in there needing a good tongue lashing ;D

There is no question that a shamrock is a decent very well built boat and I really like their look but in my humble opinion they would sell a lot more if they were outboard powered for lots of reasons, space being a very big concern if the boat is used for fishing . Another good example is albemarle. I had a beautiful Tuna Tower 27 with twin 350 chevy's ( lots of expensive maintenance)and the duro-props . Talk about an *** heavy boat and the engines took up a lot of permanent fishing space, hard to get to etc. A friend of mine has a Carolina classic 28 with twin 350 inboards. Another great boat until you get 4 guys stumbling around motor boxes in rough seas and cant trim it up when you have a low tide with heavy winds trying to get back in to the slip etc. I think the reason Grady white and Parker run almost all outboards is for those reasons.I am not as gifted as most on this board regarding motors etc and thats why the idea of just four bolts to take everything off appeals to me. On the other hand from 30 foot up its a different ball game ... Frank

frank, I'm still not following you. Looks to me like the Sham has way more room then my v-20 CC in the stern. My V has more room on the bow. Isn't the motor under the console???

Yes Tin thats where it is, on the center console boats (open) the front seat in front of the helm is on heavy hinges and those shock absorber looking things and tilts forward and gives access to the whole engine. At least on the one I saw. On the cuddy w/a pilot house that seat area does the same thing folding back. Full engine access on the ones I've seen.

Tin: Yes, you are right. Its not obtrusive like an I/O . What I meant was under deck storage space that the inboard engine takes up in a 20 footer. Frank
